Traffic stop results in charge of cannabis readily available

On Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 9:21 pm. Aylmer Police received a complaint from a local citizen of possibly an impaired by drug driver on Talbot St. Aylmer ON. As a result, police stopped a 2009 Volks Golf and spoke to a 23-year-old male from Quebec. Officers detected a strong odour of burning marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Roadside physical drug sobriety test was administered resulting in a pass. Search of the vehicle resulted in a seizure of one marijuana cigarette. As a result, male was charged with having care or control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to S. 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act, 2017.
