The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for a theft of fuel at the eastbound service center in Dutton-Dunwich around 8:00 a.m. on November 13, 2019.
During the investigation a vehicle matching the description was involved in a two vehicle collision on the 401 Highway eastbound between Highbury Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway around 8:30 a.m. This vehicle was later found to be stolen out of London, Ontario.
A vehicle was than stolen from the collision scene and later located in Ingersoll, Ontario. The OPP’s Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members attend the area to locate the person involved.
Through police investigation, Oxford County uniform members located another vehicle in Ingersoll, Ontario with the involved person.
Officers have arrested and charged 31-year-old Amy WILLIAMS of Burlington Ontario with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Theft under $5,000
- Fail to remain at the scene of a collision
- Driving while under suspension
- Careless driving
The accused was held for a bail hearing on November 14, 2019 at the London Ontario Court of Justice.
35-year-old Steven COSTELLO of Burlington, Ontario stands charged with:
- Accessory after the fact to commit an offense
The accused was arrested and released with a later court date at the Woodstock Ontario Court of Justice.
