Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 27th of August 2021 at 1145 hours, Aylmer Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. Police arrived and located two vehicles blocking the northbound lanes of John Street South.

Police investigation revealed that 28 yr old female from Aylmer had been operating her 2016 Jeep Compass, at which point she stopped for traffic that had backed up at the intersection of John Street / Talbot Street.

At this time, a 75 yr old male from Aylmer was operating his 2010 Dodge Caravan, silver, on Sydenham Street East. He stopped at the stop sign at John Street South, turned right (N/B) onto John Street South from Sydenham Street E, fails to see traffic had stopped and struck the rear of the Jeep causing minor damage.

Minor damage was caused to the rear driver’s side bumper of the Jeep that consisted of some dents and paint scrapes.

As a result of the investigation, the 75 yr old Aylmer man  was charged with Start from stopped position – not in safety contrary to s.142(2)  of the HTA.
