Impaired Driving and drug possession charge

On the 14th of April 2021, at approximately 5:27 PM, Aylmer Police were dispatched to a complaint of a possible impaired driver. Information was received, that occupants of a 2021 Ford Expedition may be involved in drug use. At 5:49 pm., police located the vehicle parked at a municipal parking lot off Sydenham St. W. Aylmer ON with two occupants inside. Police approached the vehicle, which was running and in the parked position. 24-year-old female from Aylmer was occupying driver’s seat. As the officer spoke to the female driver, he formed the opinion that she was impaired by drug. Officer located two small plastic dime bags containing narcotics on the driver’s seat. The items were seized and identified as .1 gram of Fentanyl and .3 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine. She was arrested and transported to the station for further tests. Drug Recognition Expert conducted further tests at the station and confirmed that the female was impaired by drug. As a result, she was charged with; Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and Driving while under suspension.
