Impaired Driving

On the 27th of June 2020 at approximately 4:27 pm, officer on patrol in the area of Sydenham St and Queen St. stopped a 2004 Ford Ranger. Male driver was spoken to and the officer noted an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A roadside demand was administered resulting in a “FAIL” reading.  Further tests at the station resulted in readings over 80 mgs. As a result, 53 year old male from Aylmer was charged with; Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

 

Then on 28 June 2020 at approximately 4:58 pm. Aylmer Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of John Street South and Sydenham Street in the Town of Aylmer. A 2005 Ford Pick Up being operated by a 28-year-old male from Bayham was North Bound on John St. South. He slowed and then stopped for traffic ahead. A 2009 Chev Malibu being operated by a 30-year-old male from London was also north bound on John St. when he rear-ended the stopped Ford pickup. Investigating officer spoke to the driver of the Chev Malibu and noticed that he had an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. The officer also noted physical signs of impairment and as a result, he arrested the driver for impaired driving. Male was taken to the station for breath tests resulting in readings of nearly three times the legal limit. As a result, male was charged with impaired driving, Drive over 80 mgs of alcohol and Class G1 licence
