On May 18th, at approximately 7:47 pm. an Aylmer officer was on general patrol conducting traffic enforcement on Talbot Line near Springfield Road Elgin County. Officer clocked in a 2015 Jeep traveling east bound on Talbot Line exceeding the speed limit by 41 km/hr. The Officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver who had an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath. A roadside demand was administered and the male registered a “FAIL”. Further tests at the station revealed readings twice the legal limit. Inside the vehicle officer located a small amount of cannabis that was readily available to the driver. As a result of the traffic stop, 31-year-old male from Eden was charged with: Impaired operation – Blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the criminal Code of Canada, Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act, 2017, and Speeding 121km/h in a posted 80km/h zone contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.
