On 17th of Jul 2019 at 2:00 pm. Aylmer Police Service investigated an attempt fraud incident. A caller purported to be representing a computer repair company called and attempted to obtain personal information from 71-year-old female. Female did not provide personal information. Residents are reminded not to give out personal information over the phone. Tech support scammers will try to convince you that they are legitimate. They will pretend to know about a problem on your computer. They will ask you to open normal files that look alarming to make you think you need help. If you do need computer help, go directly to a person, business, or website you know you can trust. General online searches are risky because they might pull up another scam.
