The Elgin County OPP recently investigated an 80-year-old resident that fell victim to the emergency scam.

The fraudster claimed to be the caller’s grandson in trouble with the law. The resident then proceeded to send $6,300 cash via a courier service. The following day, the resident then sent $5,600 cash via a courier service.

The OPP are encouraging all families to speak to their loved ones regarding this and many other scams.
