On July 23, 2019, at approximately 7:45 a.m., members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Elgin Paramedics, Malahide Fire Service and Orgne Air Ambulance responded to a collision between a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) and motorcycle at the intersection of Lyons Line and Putnam Road, in the Township of Malahide.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital with serious injuries. They remain in hospital in serious condition.
The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators attended the scene to investigate the cause of the collision. The investigation has revealed that the motorcycle was travelling westbound on Lyons Line when it was struck by an eastbound CMV which was turning onto Putnam Road from Lyons Line.
The driver of the CMV has been charged pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act with Careless driving causing bodily harm.
