Aylmer Police Service’s newest member

Aylmer Police Services Board and Aylmer Police would like to welcome and congratulate the newest member of Aylmer Police Service, Cst. Nelson DaCosta. On 18th of August 2019 Cst. DaCosta started with Aylmer Police Service as an experienced officer hire. He has a vast policing and correctional experience. From 1988 to 2002, Cst. DaCosta served with the Ministry of Correctional Services. In 2002 he became a police officer with the Ontario Provincial Police and served as a front line constable in Brant and Norfolk Counties. From 2006 to 2009, Nelson was part of the Community Drug Action Team responsible for drug and property crime investigations. From 2009 to 2015, Cst. DaCosta was assigned to major crime unit responsible for benchmark criminal investigations. In 2015 he was promoted to Detective Sergeant within the Professional Standards Bureau where he was responsible for internal and public complaints. After retiring from the OPP, he decided to join Aylmer Police Service. “On behalf of all the men and women, I would like to welcome Cst. DaCosta to our policing family. Cst. DaCosta brings with him vast knowledge and expertise in many facets of policing that the service and the community will benefit from.
