ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK:

“TREE FELL WHILE SCHOOL STARTING”

(The tree that fell at McGregor came down about 8:45 am in the windstorm Thursday. This information is from Richard Auckland, McGregor School Principal) – “Unfortunately, the large tree at the South end of our school yard succumbed to the high winds on Thursday this week.  Two large limbs came down approximately 4 minutes apart.  Thankfully, all student stayed on the tarmac as they usually do prior to school starting and again due to the weather they came directly into the building.  As a result of the high winds and potential danger, students were kept in for the balance of the day.  Students were also kept inside during the removal of the tree as heavy trucks and machinery were in use and were travelling in and out of our yard during the day.  No injuries resulted and the tree was removed on Friday.  Just a reminder that our yard is not supervised prior to 8:45 a.m. and that parents should remain with students for their own safety until a teacher is on the yard.”
