Summary:
The draft budget provides for a deficit of $294,552.00 (6.24%).
Cost increases – which the Township cannot control – $43,800.00 (.9%)
- Less OMPF Grant – of $42,800.00 for which the Township compensated by using all the OMPF Stability Reserve of $30,000.00, resulting in a net grant decrease of $12,800.00.
- Policing Costs – the original net increase was anticipated to be $134,000.00 for which the Township compensated by taking the risk, that a reconciliation credit of $35,000.00 will be issued and the Township also used existing Reserve Funds of $68,000.00 to reduce the net increase to $31,000.00
Estimated associated fuel increases – which Township cannot control – minimum of $65,000.00 (1.4%)
- Fuel surcharge for waste collection – $2,000.00 net increase to date
- Fuel purchases – $43,000.00, assuming prices stabilize immediately
- Gravel purchases – $20,000.00
- Single Surface Treatment – nil
- Policing – nil
Operational Savings – $110,000.00 (-2.3%)
Loan Repayment on two new buildings – $100,000.00 (2.1%)
2010 Deficit – (an overall budget variance of 3/10ths of 1%) $55,000.00 (1.2%)
Council’s Strategic Priorities – $138,000.00 (2.9%)
- Additional Seasonal Staff to improve Winter Control – $10,000.00
- Direct improvements to gravel roads, surface treated roads and gravel conversion – $128,000.00
