(Information from Joan Cresswell) – Thea Fenn, 13, won the girls under 14 division at the annual Pleasant Valley Junior Golf tourney, sponsored by the Aylmer Optimist Club, held recently.

-July 11, both stations, vehicle fire on County Rd 55

-July 15, station 1 Port Burwell called to an odor of gas on Chatham St.

-July 16, station 2 Straffordville called to a medical assist on Culloden Rd

-July 17, station 1 Port Burwell called to a medical assist on Grace Ct.

 

 

OBITUARIES:

 

-Stradeski, Mervyn formerly of Aylmer passed away Friday at 87 years of age. Husband of the late Ellen. Survivors: three children etc.. Mervyn was a Past Grand Knight of Council 4189 (Aylmer). The funeral was held this morning; arrangements with Families First Funeral Homes, Windsor.

 

-Lobban, Vince of London passed away Thursday at the age of 89 years. Survivors: wife Marie; two children including Ann Marie (Bill) Reymer of Aylmer etc.. The funeral was held yesterday; arrangements with McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home Lambeth.

 

 

PT. BRUCE: BOAT STOLEN

 

(From Elgin OPP) – Elgin OPP are currently investigating the theft of a boat and trailer from Port Bruce. The theft occurred sometime between July 12 at 11 pm and July 13 at 8:15 am. The boat is described as being: 1990 Temabex MP170 watercraft, Cream coloured, 90 HP motor, blackHull id 46D6246. The trailer is described as being: White, Ontario trailer licence plate  P4666D.

CATFISH CCA LOW WATER ADVISORY

The Catfish Creek CA issued a Level 1 Low Water Advisory yesterday as local water levels fell below provincial standards. As part of the directive, CCCA is asking the public to voluntarily reduce their water consumption in the watershed by 10 per cent.

 

MALAHIDE, BAYHAM WATER BANS 

(From Malahide Twp.)  “Effective immediately, Malahide Fire Chief Brent Smith is imposing a Fire Ban on any or all Open Air fires, whether permitted or exempt, until such time as the current dry conditions are improved by rainfall. Any fires reported will be extinguished.” Bayham Fire Chief Randy White informs that Bayham also imposed a ban yesterday – no open burning until further notice although small camp fires are still allowed.

 

 

NO CORNER CUPBOARD IN AUGUST

 

(Information from Liz McConnell) – The Aylmer Corner Cupboard will close for the month of August this summer.  In July, hours will be just 9 am to Noon.
