(Information from Chief Andre Reymer) – The new “recruit” for Aylmer Police is Jake Fischer. He is a former officer from St.Thomas with 8 years of experience. He was brought on in the midst of two officers that are on long term disability. One of those officers has returned to work but we do have two pending retirements in December this year – myself & Sgt. Gibson. Our authorized/recognized strength still remains at 13. This additional officer is filling the current illness gap. Financially the absent officers’ wages are insured so there is no impact to the budget. Jake is a lifelong Elgin county resident.”
