AYLMER HYDRO OUT TODAY

(Information from Scott Brooks of Erie Thames Power) –  “The cause was a downed conductor near the Myrtle St  Bridge. It appears animal contact (squirrel) resulted in a burnt wire. The initial contact at 8 am created the first outage. The circuit was then picked up by the Operating Grid Control Centre at which restored power to most customers. When the downed wire was reported to ETPL’s Operations department at 8:36 it was determined to immediately shut down the power to eliminate the hazardous condition and allow Erie Thames Crew to make repairs under safe conditions. Power was restored to all customers at 10:30 am. This outage affected the north end of town (north of Talbot) as well as areas in the east end and John St South, Treelawn Ave. areas. If you see a downed powerline please stay back 10 meters. Do not assume the powerline is dead. In this case the line was down, however still energized at 16,000 volts. An extremely hazardous condition.”

UPDATE: BADDER BUSLINES

(Information from Kris Badder of Badder Buslines) – “We now have a new office and garage in St. Thomas located on Edward St.. We centralized our motor coach division from London and all of our school bus maintenance from West Lorne and Aylmer. We have been at this new location on Edward St. since December, 2015. We plan to keep servicing Aylmer and West Lorne as we have in the past with bus yards to park buses and to do cleaning/minor repairs. All major maintenance will be done in St. Thomas. The property in Aylmer has not sold as of yet. If it does we will need to acquire a different piece of property to park buses that service East Elgin. Badder Bus purchased Waylin bus lines in 1995. Currently we operate 77 school routes in Elgin County, 38 of which are out of Aylmer and the surrounding area.”
