ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK:

BEST WEDDING CAKES IN WORLD HERE?

(Martha Zacharias of Grandmas’s Oven in Aylmer provides information on awards her business recently won) – “I am a member of the Wedding Industry Experts and within this group, each year awards are given out (by voting from our customers/ family/friends). My bakery this year won the following: Most Popular Cake Designer -1st in Ontario, 1st in Canada, 1st Worldwide; Most Popular Cakes -1st in Ontario, 1st in Canada, 5th Worldwide; Most Popular Sweet Tables – 1st in Ontario, 1st in Canada, 2nd Worldwide. I am not originally from this area but have lived here for the past 22 years. I opened Grandma’s Oven in August 2008 with my mom. I have been doing wedding cakes since February 2008. This year we’ll be doing over 180 weddings all over Southwestern Ontario. I do custom cakes – designing them the way the couples envision. The farthest one of my wedding cakes has travelled is to a Chateau in Quebec. My bakery placed very well on this Wedding Industry Expert website, but I know that I’m not really the best in Canada/worldwide. I follow many different amazing cake artists and I still have very much to learn. I have an amazing staff and great customers.”
