“FEW POWER PROBLEMS IN AYLMER DURING STORMS”

-
(Information provided by Erie Thames Power) “Thursday July 15th, 2010 we received a call from the Aylmer Police that residents in Aylmer reported sparking and arcing on the wires at 68 Myrtle Street. A Erie Thames Powerlines Line Crew was dispatched to investigate, they patrolled the area. The cause of the problem was the high wind that night. Tree limbs blew touching the primary wires causing the sparking and arcing, no outages reported. This can be a common occurrence when severe  storms blow through our service territory.

Sunday July 19th, 2010 a severe thunderstorm accompanied by high wind travelled through municipalities serviced by Erie Thames. Erie Thames distribution system in the Town of Aylmer withstood the storm with no major outages reported. During the storm Erie Thames recorded a auto-reclose on the feeder supplying Aylmer causing a 3 to 4 minute disruption to Erie Thames customers in Aylmer. Erie Thames Line Crews were called to 9 South St. West where a tree blew down over the customer’s secondary service. Line Crews cleared the site enough to restore the power for our customer. The tree had to be removed the following day.
