” LIONS PARK INCIDENT RESULTS IN 6 CHARGES! “

(AYLMER) – A 21-year old Aylmer man has now been charged with 6 offences resulting from an incident involving a 9-year old girl in Lions Park on Sunday, July 4 around 8 pm.  He has been charged with 2 counts of breach of his recognizance, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, indecent assault and sexual assault. He is being held in custody.

“MALAHIDE CAR ACCIDENTS:” (From ELGIN OPP)

(LYONS) -On Thursday at 2:24 pm, members of the Elgin County OPP were dispatched to a two vehicle Motor Vehicle Collsion involving personal injuries. Two elderly persons were reported to be trapped in a small car under a tractor trailer. The collsion occured on Lyons Line, east of Newell Road.  A tractor trailer that was half loaded with soy beans was travelling east on Lyons Line and had stopped to turn left  into a driveway.  The tractor trailers signal light was activated. As the driver had begun to make the left turn into the driveway  he felt a bump at the rear of the trailer. The driver observed that  that a silver car had rear ended him. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured and was the lone occupant of the tractor trailer. There was no damage to the tractor trailer and it was later driven from the scene.

The two elderly occupants of the small silver car were an 84 year old male driver from Springer Hill, Malahide Twp. and a 74 year old female also of Springer Hill.  The male driver was  transported to the St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital by ambulance, with minor injuries. The female was not injured. Both were reported to be wearing their seatbelts. Their motor vehicle was a silver, 4dr, 2005 Dodge NXT, .  The driver of the 2005 Dodge car was later charged with careless driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.

(COLLEGE LINE) -Police continue to investigate a single motor vehicle collsion involving injuries which occurred on the 11th of July 2010 at approximately 4:20am.  The collision occurred near 48649 College Line, Malahide Township.  A 2000 Grey Lincoln LS was travelling westbound when it left the road way. The vehicle traveled approximately 60 meters on the grass before striking a tree and rolling several times. The vehicle came to rest approximately 50 meters from the tree on the passenger side. A 19 year old male driver from Malahide and a 20 year old female passenger of Aylmer, were transported to St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital with serious injuries. Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

ROOKIES: (W10, L2)
The Rookie team played the London EBBA Royal’s on Thursday at home and came away with a 15 -6 victory. Leading the way with 3 hits were Chase Wittland, Landon Underhill, Bryce Walcarius, Ryan Nancekivell, Tyler Hopper and Ethan Reid. Devon Kellington, Seth Hedges, Nolan Wiebe and Evan Jones had 2 hits each while Andie Wittland, Aiden Hopper & Quentin Issac had 1 hit each. The second game of the week had the Rookie’s visiting Dorchester to complete a home and home series from last week. The A’s lost a thriller in the bottom of the last inning as the Dorchester Dolphins came from behind to beat the A’s 20-19. Ryan Nancekivell, Chase Wittland, Quentin Issac, Evan Jones, Tyler Hopper and Seth Hedges had 4 hits each while Bryce Walcarius, Ethan Reid, Devon Kellington, Nolan Wiebe, Andie Wittland and Aiden Hopper had 3 hits each. The A’s next home game will be July 22 so come out and watch for free at Steen Park at 6:15 pm.

“MAN STOLE ‘DOUGH, ROLLS’ AT SPICERS…(REALLY!)

(AYLMER) – A 38-year old St.Thomas man was found guilty of stealing ‘dough’ while an employee of Spicers Bakery in Aylmer last September. A video camera witnessed the man taking ‘rolls’ of toonies from the cash register, totalling $100. In Elgin Court recently he was fined $250.

AYLMER POLICE REPORT:

-Saturday night around 11 pm a 49 year old Ancaster man was charged with impaired driving on John St. south.

-In Elgin Court recently, a 47-year old Aylmer woman was given 45 days in jail and has to pay $120 in restitution for stealing a purse in an Aylmer hotel in March.

-On Friday around 6 pm a 68-year old Aylmer man had his Jimmy impounded for 45 days after Police stopped him on John St. north . Among his infractions were invalid plates, no licence, unfit vehicle, driving while disqualified, driving under suspension etc.

-A 48-year old St.Thomas female , a Macs Milk manager, was charged with theft at the store last Thursday after a video camera recorded her taking money from the cash register.
