OBITUARIES:
-Greer, Elizabeth ‘Betty’; of Aylmer; on Sunday; aged 61 years; Survivors include: husband Allan; sister-in-law Donna (Murray) Holden of Eden etc. Visitation at Ostranders Funeral Home, Tillsonburg on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg on Friday at 10 am.
-Shackelton, Kenneth, of Springfield, on Saturday, in his 90th year. Survivors include: wife Leone (Silverthorn) Shackelton; children Brian (Mary Jane) Shackelton, Springfield; Mark (Susan) Shackelton, Aylmer; brother Les Shackelton of Springfield etc. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Visitation at H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Springfield Baptist Church on Tuesday, at 11:00 am.
-Friesen, Johan, of Aylmer; on Saturday, in his 60th year. Survivors include: wife Maria (Woelke) Friesen; children Susan, Jake, Sara, Anna, Peter, Margaret, Helen, Mary, Nancy, Tina, Lisa, Agatha, Eva, Johnny, Trudy and Henry. He was born in Mexico. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday. The funeral service will be held at the Old Colony Mennonite Church, Aylmer on Tuesday, at 2:00 pm.
-Grass, Donald Harvey, of RR6 Aylmer, on Saturday, in his 85th year. Survivors include: wife Marjorie (Bowen) Grass and the late Hazel (Ronson) Grass; children: Tracy Tribe and husband Mark of R.R.# 2, Aylmer etc. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m.
-Mickle, Anna Elizabeth; in her 93rd year; at Parkwood, London. Survivors include: sister Helen Chivers of Vienna; Cremation has taken place. A Service will be held at North Broadway Baptist Church in Tillsonburg, on Tuesday, at 11:00.
-Barclay, Anite (June); on August 5th, in her 83rd year. She was a former member of the Straffordvile UCW and Lioness. A memorial service was held at Straffordville United Church, on August 13th.
-Weesjes, Bertha; of Pt. Stanley and formerly of Aylmer; on Friday, August 10, in her 88th year. Survivors include: husband Ed Weesjes; children Ena and Paul Vanden Brink , Albert and Grace Weesjes, Adrian and Wendy Weesjes; all of Aylmer; Betty and Herman Siemens of Belmont, etc. She was born in the Netherlands. The service was held on August 13. Arrangements through Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer.
-Thompson, Denniss; of Springfield, on August 10, at the age of 45 years. Survivors include: wife Lorelei (Becker); son Colin etc. The Funeral was Saturday. Arrangments were through Ostranders Funeral Home, Tillsonburg.
THE LOCAL LENS:
Work on the repaving of King Street from Talbot to Pine began last week - it should be completed within two weeks. The entrance to the municipal parking lot has been relocated from King to Sydenham St. as a result. (kb) (CLICK)
