-Southwest Soccer: Aylmer FC hosts Glencoe, 7, at EESS
OBITUARIES:
-Campbell, Gertrude, of Heritage Place Aylmer, on Saturday, in her 99th year. Survivors include: sons Dan Campbell, Don and wife Nancy Campbell, of Aylmer etc.. She was a member of the Aylmer Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer today at 2:00 pm. with visitation one hour prior.
-Phoenix, Jean, of St. Thomas and formerly Aylmer, on Saturday, in her 92nd year. Survivors include: son Skip Phoenix (Beth) of Aylmer etc. In 1946 she graduated from the Toronto Baptist Seminary and taught in Africa until 1953. She and husband Stuart, a former EESS teacher, lived in Aylmer from 1957 until 2001. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday 6-9 pm where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 1:00 pm
-Ens, Nickolas; of R.R.2, Aylmer, on Sunday, in his 89th year. Survivors include: wife Eiginna (Pappenfoot) Ens; children Ed Ens and wife Mary of Straffordville, Fred Ens and wife Jeanne of R.R.# 5 Aylmer, Paul Ens and wife MaryLee of Straffordville, Mark Ens and wife Glenna of Belmont etc. He was born in the Ukraine and was a Malahide Township tobacco and cash crop farmer. He was a former school board trustee and a member of Malahide Fire Dept.. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 am.
125th RECAP
THURSDAY – About 150 attended the Opening Ceremonies at Palmer Park. Speakers included: Aylmer Mayor Jack Couckuyt, Malahide Mayor Dave Mennill, Elgin Warden Bill Walters, MP Joe Preston, and MPP Jeff Yurek. A feature was the release of 125 balloons….. About 400 persons attended the Christian Reformed Church Supper and Games night….. The car show at the EEC Complex attracted over 100 cars.
FRIDAY – About 100 persons attended the Saxonia-Optimist Clubs dinner and dance at the Saxonia Hall.
SATURDAY – The Parade was a highlight with the five marching bands. About 250 watched the Movie under the Stars at Steen Park. About 75 attended the Town of Aylmer dance.
SUNDAY – A large crowd participated in the ecumenical service hosted by six Aylmer area churches.

SPANISH SERVICE AT AYLMER BANDSHELL
(Contributed) – The Aylmer EMMC church is hosting a special Spanish church service for local migrant workers on Sunday, July 15 at 6:30 pm at Palmer Bandshell (bring lawn chairs). Guest Speaker is Ruben Mercado, pastor of a church in Mexico City. Music in Spanish is provided by the Heide family.
