FRONT ROW SEATS’ THURSDAYS IN ‘TANews’ “

(by Dave Ferguson)

” Welcome to the inaugural space for entertainment listings for around the county and up your block. The intent of this space is to have a one stop shop for all to check out entertainment listings.

Since this is in the infancy stages I’m not plugged into everyone’s schedule, so this site is only as good as the information provided. Please send me an email to dferguson@frontrowseats.ca on info concerning any event(s) of entertainment within Elgin County. However if you call Elgin County home and perform outside the confines of our boundary that information is also something that should be posted.

During the crawl, walk, run evolution with this space I will migrate into areas of reviews and entertainment stories/news. My background in the music industry and journalistic endeavours for a myriad of entertainment publications can hopefully provide an asset to this site.”

“NEW SPRINGFIELD LIBRARY OPEN TODAY!”

(SPRINGFIELD) (Information provided by Brian Masschaele Elgin Director of Community Services) The new Springfield Library is open today from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm in the new Malahide Community Hall. It was in the the Fire Hall building previously since 2002. Said Mr. Masschaele: “There is more overall space, comfortable reading areas, a room that can be used for storytime and an area just for teens.  Elgin County Library also set aside $10,000 to devote to new and updated materials for Springfield that will continue to flow in over the rest of the year.

The major difference is that we will have a lot more space, going from 1200 square feet in the current location to 1850 square feet plus use of an activity room for up to 50 people which means our highly successful programming efforts will only grow.  The new location will enable us to add two public access computers to the three we already have, accommodate a slightly larger collection, integrate more interactive features such as a digital display board, incorporate dedicated child and teen zones and also provide more work space for staff.  Most importantly, we will create a space that meets or exceeds accessibility requirements.I commend the Township of Malahide for the approach they have taken on this project.  They have consulted with us throughout the planning process and have incorporated our feedback into the final design.  I am particularly pleased that the branch will be part of a larger community complex as it offers us the chance to feed into a variety of cultural and community events.I am confident that the residents of Malahide will be very proud of this library!”

“A READER WRITES:”

“Re-Splashpad: When the arena fund raising drive was starting, I remember that a concern of many older citizens was that this construction would delay construction of a badly needed indoor pool for Aylmer.
